Sandi Morrisseau, Lead, Aboriginal Relations.

Nexen recently received notification from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) that our Silver-level certification under the PAR program has been renewed.
CCAB is Canada’s foremost organization to sustain business relations between First Nations, Inuit and Métis people and Canadian businesses and industries. The CCAB facilitates positive and sustainable relations between the business sector and Aboriginal business communities.
Among the CCAB’s programs is PAR – Progressive Aboriginal Relations – a certification program that confirms corporate performance in Aboriginal relations. PAR certification provides a high level of assurance to Aboriginal and business communities because the designation is supported by an independent, third-party verification of the company’s detailed application. The final PAR certification level is determined by a jury of Aboriginal business leaders.
“Nexen previously attained the Silver level designation and we wanted to maintain that level,” says Sandi Morrisseau, Lead-Aboriginal Relations. “We submitted a very lengthy and detailed application earlier this year, which involved input from business units and support groups across Nexen. This certification at the Silver level will be in effect for the next three years.” The official certification award will be given to Nexen at the CCAB’s upcoming annual gala on September 24, 2015 in Vancouver.
Certified companies are allowed to promote their certification level with a PAR logo, signifying to communities that the company is a good business partner and committed to the prosperity of Aboriginal communities.
