In 2014, Nexen announced a $75,000 donation spread over three years to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program. The program distributes monthly food hampers to geographically isolated, low-income communities who do not have consistent access to affordable nutritious food.
“We are proud to be associated with the Food Bank and their charitable programs which have extended to the southern rural communities within our region,” says Cindy Amerongen, Manager of Community & Consultation at Long Lake. “Nexen is committed to supporting programs that aid in the development of a strong network of community services. We are here for the long haul and our investments in the community, such as this contribution to the Mobile Pantry, reflect that commitment.”
The Wood Buffalo Food Bank experiences its highest demand around the holiday season. Whether its food donations or a financial contribution, these offerings make a difference in the lives of our neighbours in the Wood Buffalo region.
