The Golden Eagle Area Development team is celebrating a significant safety achievement - one year without a Lost Time Incident (LTI).

The safety milestone is all the more remarkable as it has been secured during an intense work period on the asset involving a series of heavy lifting and complex operational activities – facilities hook-up, commissioning and production of first oil.

The feat has also included periods of significant activity over the past year since the asset came on-line, including the Ensco 120 and MSS1 drilling (Phase II) programs, subsea works and Ocean Bottom Seismic (OBS) survey program.

“This is a great accomplishment resulting from the team work and commitment of many people working on Golden Eagle. It is evidence of the strong safety culture among the Nexen workforce who are committed to ‘Safety First’ and ‘Do It Right’. Congratulations to all the team,” says Kevin Cooke, Golden Eagle Offshore Installation Manager.

The development is Nexen’s newest oil field in the North Sea, and one of the largest projects in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) for several years. First oil from the platform, on 30 October 2014, was accomplished ahead of schedule, under budget and with a best-in-class safety record.
