In recognition of the industry’s current drive for new, more efficient ways of working, the regulator (Oil and Gas Authority), introduced a new category this year – “Maximising Economic Recovery UK.”. Nexen has also been shortlisted for this prestigious accolade which recognises those companies whose co-operative approach and positive behaviours have helped to maximise the economic recovery of oil and gas from the United Kingdom Continental Shelf.

Ray Riddoch, Nexen’s Managing Director and Senior Vice President, Europe extended his congratulations to all of the finalists: “It has been fantastic to hear that Nexen has reached the finals for four our of six award categories. This demonstrates the hard work carried out on a daily basis across Nexen’s operations and is also well-deserved recognition of talent by our industry peers. All of our finalists have positively embraced Nexen’s values and culture. It’s their attitude and behaviours – including a commitment to effective planning, and holding themselves and expecting others to be accountable for to achieve superior results –that makes a difference to our company’s success. They are real assets to Nexen’s future, and all worthy finalists. I wish them all every success.”

Stephen Marcos Jones, Oil & Gas UK’s business development director said the event brings the whole industry together to showcase the exceptional individuals and companies across many companies.

He said: “Compiling the finalists was a tough job for our judges – and every company and individual announced today fought off some stiff competition. Collaboration is crucial if we're to fulfil Sir Ian Wood's vision to maximise economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf and that is why our new award, supported by the Oil & Gas Authority, is a timely addition.

“In a world of a fallen oil price and high costs, we know that industry is facing a difficult time. However, we must still set aside an evening to celebrate those companies and individuals achieving excellence in their respective fields.”
