Nexen supports the educational achievement of youth in the communities where we operate. Since 2012, Nexen has offered a scholarship program to eligible high school graduates from Anzac and surrounding communities near our Long Lake oil sands facility.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Bree Braumberger, pursuing a Bachelor of Psychology, Mount Royal University, Calgary
  • Katelyn Crapeau, Bachelor of Nursing, MacEwan University, Edmonton
  • Shyla Kreutzer, Bachelor of Arts, Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo

We congratulate our 2015 scholarship recipients and wish them the best in their endeavours.

Scholarship amounts are $2,500/year up to four years for students entering or currently enrolled in university, college, vocational or technical schools, and $750/session up to four years for apprenticeship programs.

Since the Oil Sands Scholarship program started in 2012, Nexen has awarded scholarships to 11 students, including these three 2015 recipients. A total of $35,000 in scholarships has been given to students who are advancing their education through post-secondary studies.
