Chief Financial Officer
Una was appointed Chief Financial Officer in February 2013 after serving as Interim Chief Financial Officer since January 2012. Una is responsible for overall financial management of the company. In addition to her duties as CFO, she is also responsible for Corporate Planning, Business Development, Marketing and Information Technology.
Una has spent a significant portion of her career at Nexen, where she has held various roles including Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning and Business Development, a position that included accountability for expanding and optimizing Nexen’s global portfolio of assets. She was also responsible for managing and developing Nexen’s long term plans and annual operating budget. From 2002 to 2009, Una served as Treasurer. During that time, she completed multiple debt financing arrangements including a $2 billion facility acquisition as well as an initial public offering for Nexen's chemicals business. She also worked as Controller, Manager of Investor Relations and as an accounting supervisor in Yemen for the Masila Project.
Prior to joining Nexen, Una held a variety of positions in public accounting firms. She obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree from Memorial University in Newfoundland. She has earned her designation as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. She has also completed executive development programs at Wharton Business School in the United States and INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. Una also serves on the Board of Directors of Kinross Gold Corporation, a Canadian-based gold mining company.
Una has participated in a variety of community-based volunteer initiatives and boards. In October 2013, Una was selected to join Women On Board®, a Catalyst Initiative, which combines the power of mentorship and sponsorship to promote the appointment of women to corporate boards. Una currently sits on the Board of Governors for Strathcona Tweedsmuir School. Una and her husband have one daughter and live in Calgary.
