Vice President, US Gulf of Mexico and President, Nexen Petroleum USA Inc.
Paul Harris was appointed Vice President, US Gulf of Mexico, and President, Nexen Petroleum USA Inc. in February 2016. In this position, he is responsible for management of all the company’s US Gulf of Mexico interests and operations; ensuring safe, efficient and reliable production, moving forward Nexen’s short and long-term strategies within the region. This includes the safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of the non-operated mega-projects Stampede and Appomattox, due to be brought into production in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
Paul has over 25 years of upstream oil and gas experience, gained predominantly through the project management and leadership of major engineering and construction projects. Paul started with Nexen in 2002 as a result of the sale of EnCana UK to Nexen and has held progressively senior positions within the company, including Director, Major Projects in the UK and latterly Vice President, Engineering and Construction in Calgary, Canada, where he held responsibility for Project Development and Execution of all Canadian and International Major Capital Projects.
Prior to joining the company, Paul held positions in the areas of Process Engineering, Facilities Engineering and Project Management in other international energy companies, and engineering contractors and consultancies, including Kerr-McGee, BHP Billiton, Hamilton Oil, KBR and Genesis Oil & Gas Consultants.
Paul is a professional engineer with Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons) from the University of Bradford.
